BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The seventh-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team improved to 6-0-1 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Wilmington (Del.) Tuesday afternoon at the Pioneer Soccer Park. The Wildcats dropped to 4-3-2 overall with the loss.

After 75 minutes of scoreless action, LIU Post broke through the stalemate for the 1-0 win. Freshman midfielder Tom Stenberg (Halmstad, Sweden) drew out the Wildcats's keeper Vinny Tasca before feeding the ball to goal-scorer Johann Kristjansson (Reykjavik, Iceland). The forward then went for a quick one-on-one with a Wilmington defender before finding the back of an open goal. 

The Wildcats nearly knotted the game back up with an on goal attempt by Manuel Ruiz Luque, but Oliver Hessner Hansen (Vaerloese, Denmark) tallied his sixth save of the game to help the green and gold hold on for the 1-0 victory.

The Pioneers return to the pitch this Saturday, Sept. 30 when they host the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan. Game time in the East Coast Conference match is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park.
