CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - LIU Post cross country senior
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) has been tabbed as the East Coast Conference Women's Runner of the Week, as the league office announced on Tuesday.
This marks the 12th time Williams has received the honor in a Pioneer uniform, including six times last season.
On Saturday, the senior ran to a second overall finish at the Marist Invitational in a 55-runner pool of three Division I and two non-Division I schools. Williams was just barely edged out by two-and-one half seconds as she crossed the finish line first in the non-Division I group with a time of 18:12.1. This time set a new LIU Post best mark at the Vassar Farms course, breaking the record she set last year by a whopping 23 seconds.
Williams and the Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 9 when they race at the Fordam Fiasco in Bronx, N.Y.
