COMPLETE RESULTS
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's swimming team suffered its first defeat of the season as the team came up just short at New York University, 123-82 inside the Palladium Athletic Facility on Friday, Jan. 12.
With the loss, the Pioneers slip to 3-1 on the season while NYU improved to the same record.
Juniors
Karis Fuller and
Caitlin Johnstone notched two individual wins during the meet, and helped the Pioneers take first in the 200-medley relay. Fuller took home first in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:06.65 before earning the win in the 100 backstroke at 56.41 seconds.
Johnstone took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.13 seconds, and earned a victory in the 100 backstroke at 1:07.18. Senior
Laura Bendfeldt also earned an individual win in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.30 seconds.
The group of sophomores
Jessica Argelander, Fuller, Johnstone, and Bendfeldt led the Pioneers to a win in the 200-medley relay, putting together a time of 1:47.31 to out touch the Violets by .31 second.
LIU Post also earned a second-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay, as Bendfeldt along with junior
Eline Swensen, sophomore
Cassie St. Angelo, and freshman
Corina Reed recorded a time of 1:41.63.
The Pioneers return to the pool on Sunday, Jan. 14, when they host Siena inside the Pratt Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
