LORETTO, Pa. – The LIU Post bowling team ended the three-day Red Flash Invitational with an 11th place finish, earning two head-to-head wins during the final day of competition.
Freshman
Patricia Kelly ended the weekend with a 207.8 average in the traditional format with a 47.6 percent strike percentage, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team.
The Pioneers entered the day in 11th place and remained in the same position as the final results were entered. The Pioneers took on Wilmington University, Mount Aloysious College and St. Peter's University in best-of-seven matches, winning two of the three for the day.
In the opening match, the Pioneers fell behind 3-0 after the first three games, but came storming back with games of 192, 169 and 173 to force a decisive seventh game. In that final game, the Pioneers did just enough to edge the Bearcats, 161-158 to earn the win.
Match two was not as friendly for the Green and Gold, as Mount Aloysius swept the first four games to earn the win in the middle match. LIU Post still had fight however, as the Pioneers bounced back to sweep St. Peter's in four games (180-148, 151-148, 171-167, and 169-139).
Freshman
Emily Cavanaugh averaged 188.8 during the traditional games, leading a solid performance across the board for the Pioneers. "Every member of the Pioneers contributed at different times during the weekend in a true team effort," said head coach
Edward Raven.
The Pioneers return to Pennsylvania in two weeks when they participate in the Golden Bear Classic hosted by Kutztown University Friday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 11.
