FULL LIST OF 2017 AWARD WINNERS
DANBURY, Conn. – The LIU Post football team was honored as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Team of the Year, as announced by the conference office Jan. 29.
The Pioneers, led by head coach
Bryan Collins, finished the season with an 8-2 overall record, and a 7-2 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Green and Gold ended the season on a five-game win streak in NE10 play to close out the season, outscoring opponents 257-84 during that stretch.
The LIU Post offense led the NE10 in nearly every offensive category including nearly 500 yards of offense and 42.6 points per game, ranking eighth in the nation in both respective categories. Graduate quarterback
Yianni Gavalas and senior offensive lineman
Joseph Lacey garnered NE10 Quarterback and Offensive Lineman of the Year honors to lead 11 Pioneers on the All-NE10 squad this season. Lacey later added an American Football Coaches Association All-American accolade to his resume for his performance on the field in 2017.
The Pioneers will be honored at the ECAC awards banquet on Thursday, Feb. 22 in the Toyota Club at Metlife Stadium.
