It is a bookend matchup for one of these teams on Thursday as LIU Post (14-4-1) and Adelphi (16-3-2) as both sides met in the season opener on Aug. 30. One of these local rivals will be crowned the East Region champion, while the other will see its season come to a close.
INSIDE THE SERIES
LIU Post and Adelphi have met eight times in program history, with the Pioneers holding a 4-2-2 advantage in the series. During the last six matchups, it has been an even 2-2-2 split, with Adelphi taking the season's first matchup, 2-1 at Motamed Field. During the regional championship last season, LIU Post defeated the Panthers 3-0 to advance to the quarterfinal round of the tournament.

The Pioneers have clicked at the right time, entering the match on a seven-game unbeaten streak. LIU Post last dropped a match on Oct. 13 during a double-overtime setback to Mercy College. Mike Sutton.
On the offensive end, LIU Post has seen senior
Vittorio Argeri step up for postseason play, registering two goals and one assist. Freshman
Atha Coutroumpas provides quality play off the bench, while freshman
Javier Rehberger Martin has been tremendous as a two-way player in the midfield. Of course you cannot overlook graduate student
Lukas Ostermann the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association named the East Region's Player of the Year on Wednesday.
Adelphi
The Panthers rolled through the Northeast-10 Conference tournament, recording three-consecutive shutouts to earn the conference title. On the year Adelphi has notched 10 shutouts, as Matt Apicella has played every minute in goal. Despite the 10 shutouts, Adelphi has allowed multiple goals in six contests this year, including six goals against the University of New Haven, and four goals apiece in consecutive games against Le Moyne College and American International College.
On the offensive end, Adelphi averages over two goals per game, led by the Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Year, Paolo Marciano, and James Thristino who have tallied over 10 goals each on the year. Marciano has recorded at least one point in the last eight matches for the Panthers.
