Petit-Frere Named Associated Press All-American

COMPLETE AP ALL-AMERICA TEAMS

NEW YORK, N.Y. –
Graduate student defensive lineman Kevin Petit-Frere of the LIU Post football team was announced as a second-team All-American when the Associated Press released its second-annual Division II All-America teams on Wednesday, Dec. 12.
 
Petit-Frere becomes the first LIU Post player recognized as a Division II AP All-American in the awards second year in the Division II model. The All-America recognition adds to his already impressive 2018 awards resume which includes D2CCA All-Super Region I recognition and the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year.
 
A force in the backfield all season, Petit-Frere ranked seventh in Division II this season with 11.5 sacks. The Amityville native was also a nominee for the Gene Upshaw award as the top lineman in the country after leading the NE10 with 15.5 tackles for loss. His return to action saw a season-high nine tackles during the season-opener against American International and also saw big-time performances with three sacks against Merrimack, two sacks against Saint Anselm, 3.5 tackles for loss at Assumption, and seven stops against Slippery Rock.
