ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The No. 13/17 LIU Post men's lacrosse team moved to 3-0 in East Coast Conference play with an 8-4 victory under the lights at John A. Darcy Field against Molloy College April 11.

The Pioneers outshot the Lions 39-25 and held a 31-18 advantage in ground balls and a 15-1 edge in face-offs. Junior Connor Farrell continued his outstanding work in the face-off circle, winning all 15 of the Pioneer draws on the evening, giving him a .931 winning percentage over his last three games.

Freshman standout William Snelders led the Pioneers on the offensive end, scoring a team-best three goals, while senior Chris Trasacco added two goals. Junior Steven Frank chipped in three assists on the night.

Molloy struck first just over three minutes into the contest, but following a face-off win on the ensuing draw, the Pioneers leveled the scoring 17 seconds later when Trasacco scored his first of the night on a feed from freshman Ryan Blume. Just over a minute later, Snelders gave the Green and Gold its first lead of the evening on his 38th tally of the season.

The score came level one more time during the period when Molloy's Kevin Pastier found the back of the net at the 6:59 mark. It was as close as the Lions would come the rest of the way though, as Trasacco and Snelders gave the Pioneers a two-goal cushion before senior Kris Alvarado scored his first goal of the season late in the opening quarter to make it 5-2 after the first stanza.

Both teams added a single goal in the second quarter and the Pioneers were held without a strike in the third quarter. The Green and Gold added two goals in the final quarter, however, while also holding Molloy scoreless to pull away for the 8-4 win.

LIU Post will have the weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday, April 17 when it hosts the University of the District of Columbia at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 2:00 p.m.
