BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 7 LIU Post women's lacrosse team may have gone 1-1 last week, but senior goalkeeper
Olivia Kirk was outstanding between the pipes, earning Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II National Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Kirk compiled a .742 save percentage over two contests last week, making 23 saves in goal. The week started when she earned her ninth win of the season with a six-save performance against the University of Bridgeport. Against No. 2/3 Adelphi University, Kirk made a season-high 17 saves, allowing just seven goals against the Panthers.
Behind the impressive performance on the week, Kirk overtook the top spot among NCAA Division II goalkeepers for the best save percentage in the nation, stopping 57.6 percent of shots on target this season.
Kirk and the Pioneers return to action on Saturday, April 14 against Mercy College at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in a battle of East Coast Conference unbeaten teams at 11:00 a.m.
