MANCHESTER, N.H. – The No. 14 LIU Post men's lacrosse team were stifled by No. 15/16 St. Anselm College in non-conference action, 15-7 in a game rescheduled from late March due to snow.

Despite the final score line, it was a very evenly matched battle between the two nationally-ranked opponents. The Hawks held a slight 40-33 advantage in shots, while the Pioneers picked up 27 ground balls to St. Anselm's 20. In the face-off circle, junior Connor Farrell won 18-o of 26 attempts and recorded a team-best nine ground balls.

The major difference came in offensive execution, as the Hawks converted 15 of their 22 shots on goal while holding the Pioneers to just seven of 16 in shots on target. On the defensive end, St. Anselm forced 20 Pioneer turnovers and held the Green and Gold to an 0-for-4 effort in man-up opportunities.

Freshman William Snelders led the Pioneers with five points behind four goals and one assist. Senior Dylan Harned tallied the only other multi-goal game with two strikes and sophomore Nick Grassa added the final goal.

The Hawks took an early lead just under four minutes into the contest when Anthony Busconi found the back of the net off a feed from Ryan Hesseltine. The early strike sparked a 4-0 burst by the Hawks to open the contest before Harned scored his first of the game with 2:37 remaining in the opening period. The St. Anselm lead grew to as many as six goals in the first half, but the Pioneers responded with a 4-0 run before halftime to make it a two-goal game at the break.

Harned found the back of the net for his second tally of the contest early in the second half to cut the deficit to one goal. It was as close as the Pioneers could get to the Hawks, however, as St. Anselm rattled off eight of the next nine goals to close out the contest for the 15-7 final.

The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Senior Day when they host Mercy College at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium Saturday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m.
