Women's Lacrosse Earns Bid to NCAA Division II Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After capturing its fourth consecutive East Coast Conference women's lacrosse championship, the LIU Post Pioneers are headed back to the NCAA Division II Tournament, earning the No. 3 seed in the East Region bracket as announced by the NCAA May 6.

The Pioneers will take on local rival and No. 2 seed Adelphi University at Ted Grant Field on the campus of Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. on Friday, May 11.

Sitting in fourth-place in the east region rankings last week, the Green and Gold jumped Mercy College in the final standings after taking down the Mavericks for the second time this season in the ECC title game. The Pioneers enter the NCAA Tournament with a 14-5 overall mark with each setback to a nationally ranked opponent.

Earning the No. 1 seeds for each of the four regions and a respective bye into the quarterfinal rounds were Florida Southern College, Le Moyne College, West Chester University, and Lindenwood University.

Game time for Friday's matchup will be announced early this week. A full preview of the east region tournament will be available on www.liupostpioneers.com this week.
