Pioneers Announce Pat Patterson as New Athletic Band Director

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – LIU Post Director of Athletics Debbie DeJong announced the hiring of Pat Patterson as the new Athletic Band Director this week.

"It is my pleasure to welcome Pat into our Pioneer family," mentioned DeJong. "His years of experience and the tradition of excellence he has built with his programs in the local area are elements that will be invaluable to the growth of our program."

Patterson most recently served as a director at Roslyn High School for 13 seasons. During his tenure, the marching band performed at the Orange Bowl, Peach Bowl, and a New York State championship in 2015.

"It is an honor and pleasure to be at LIU Post." Patterson remarked. "I would like to thank Debbie DeJong, Michael BeRthel, Lloyd Ribner and their team for this great opportunity. After spending 32 years as a music educator throughout New York State, I welcome this new challenge and chapter in my long career. I look forward to building and nurturing this program into a great source of pride for this wonderful University and The Long Island community."

Patterson will look to build the Pioneer program from the ground up in hopes of creating one of the most respected groups on the East Coast to create a memorable game day experience for fans. During his career, he has been instrumental in developing several high-profile bands at the high school and collegiate level, including SUNY Fredonia, Hampton Bays High School, Pulaski High School, Mineola High School, and Farmingdale High School.
