BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's tennis team suffered its first setback of the season, falling to Post University in non-conference play 4-3 Wednesday at the LIU Post Tennis Courts.
The Pioneers drop to 1-1 on the season, while the Eagles earn their first win to improve to 1-2.
Despite dropping the point in doubles play, senior
Shanice Arthur earned a tough-fought singles victory on court No. 1, 6-4, 4-6, 10-9. Sophomore
Veronika Koudelkova followed suit with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, taking down Areej Fareh 6-1, 6-3. The Pioneers were attempting to rally for the second-consecutive match, but the momentum was slowed when junior
Charlotte Hynes was forced to retire midway through the No. 3 singles matchup.
Sophomore
Christina Jud earned the final point of the day at No. 4 singles when she defeated Juliana Seabra, 7-5, 6-3. The Eagles secured the victory by earning a point in No. 5 and 6 singles to secure the narrow 4-3 final.
LIU Post returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 22 when they travel to neighboring New York Institute of Technology for an 11:00 a.m. matchup with the Bears.
