ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's soccer team dominated across the board during a 3-0 victory against Roberts Wesleyan College in East Coast Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The Green and Gold improve to 5-2-1 on the season and 2-1 in league play while the Redhawks drop to 2-5-2 overall and 1-3 against conference opponents.
LIU Post outshot Roberts Wesleyan, 20-3, including a 13-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Pioneers also compiled a 10-1 edge in corner kicks en route to the shutout victory.
Freshman
Kendra Oldroyd opened the scoring late in the first half when she buried a rebound attempt on a shot that was originally blocked by the Redhawk defense. Nearly 15 minutes into the second half, junior
Julia Duffy found the top corner of the frame with a shot from outside the box to put LIU Post ahead 2-0. During the 84th minute, redshirt-junior
Alice Schonfeldt scored on a set piece from outside the box for her second goal in as many games to give the Pioneers the 3-0 victory.
Senior
Hillevi Eklow was credited for the for the shutout victory in goal having faced no shots on target.
The Pioneers will finally play their first contest at Pioneer Soccer Park on Tuesday, Oct. 2 when they host Queens College for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff.
