MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The LIU Post baseball team had an outstanding second day at the Northeast Challenge, first defeating Felician University 3-2 and following with a 5-3 win over Stonehill College in the nightcap at the Ripken Experience Complex.
Sophomore
Christopher Wasson continued his strong start to the season as he recorded three hits, a triple, two runs and one RBI. Senior
Michael Manzione also had an impressive day at the plate, finishing with three hits, a home run and three RBIs.
Sophomore
Jahsiah Greene went 2-for-4 with two RBIs against Stonehill and the Pioneers seven hits against the Skyhawks was an early season-best. LIU Post's five RBIs against Stonehill was also a season-high.

Game One – LIU Post 3, Felician 2
While Felician took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, the Pioneers struck back in the bottom of the third. Redshirt junior
Andy Camilo led off by earning a walk and senior
Jimmy Mendyk advanced after being hit by a pitch. Freshman
Giovanni Ciaccio reached on a fielding error and Camilo scored for LIU Post. Senior
Dave Brehm then reached on a fielder's choice, advancing to second on a Felician muffed throw; Ciaccio advanced to third and Mendyk scored to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead.
Felician tied the score in the top of the sixth, but Manzione would homer to center field and give LIU Post a 3-2 lead that they held on to for the rest of the game.
Game Two – LIU Post 5, Stonehill 3
The Skyhawks got on the front foot early, taking a 2-0 lead by the end of the third inning. LIU Post bounced back in the top of the fifth; senior
Joe Piscitelli walked and Wasson followed with a triple down the right field line, scoring Pisticelli. The Pioneers then tied the score 2-2 as Manzione singled through the left side and Wasson scored.
LIU Post ended the top of the seventh with the bases loaded. Junior
Zach Fritz singled up the middle and Greene followed with a single to left field. Mendyk then earned a walk but the inning ended with the score tied, 2-2.
The Pioneers got hot in the top of the eighth. Senior
Ryan Dalton singled up the middle and sophomore
Daniel Keane then pinch ran for Dalton. Ciaccio followed with a single to third base. Wasson was then intentionally walked and Manzione reached on a fielder's choice to third base. Wasson then advanced to second on a throwing error, Ciaccio advanced to third and Keane scored.
LIU Post then added another two runs after Greene singled up the middle and Wasson and Ciaccio scored. The Green & Gold almost added more runs after Mendyk walked and while the Pioneers did not score again, LIU Post ended the inning with a 5-3 advantage.
While Stonehill added one more run, LIU Post held out for the 5-3 win.
