CARY, N.C. – Playing in its second game of four at the USA Baseball Complex, the LIU Post baseball team suffered a 2-1 setback against Slippery Rock University Saturday

Freshman
Giovanni Ciaccio went 2-for-4 while sophomore
Christopher Wasson had one hit and one run. Seniors
Dave Brehm and
Joe Piscitelli also added one hit each. On the mound, junior
Noah Lorenzo struck out 10 in 8.0 innings, scattering seven hits.
LIU Post almost put itself in the drivers seat early; Ciaccio led off the top of the first with a single through the left side and Wasson followed with a bunt and reached on a fielders choice. He then advanced to second after Brehm singled down the left field line but the Pioneers did not capitalize.
Ciaccio singled through the right side in the top of the third and Piscitelli singled through the left side then proceeded to steal single in the top of the fifth, but it was Slippery Rock who put the first runs of the game on the scoreboard as they took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh.
In the top of the ninth LIU Post struck back after Wasson doubled down the left field line and advanced to third on a passed ball. He then scored after Vaglica flied out to right field but Slippery Rock managed to hold out for the 2-1 win.
