PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The LIU Post men's & women's track & field teams continued their outdoor seasons Friday and Saturday at the Metropolitan Championship at the Bauer Track & Field Complex. The Pioneers, who competed against 10 NCAA Division I programs, were led by sophomore Alyssa Farrell who collected a pair of top-six finishes.
 
Farrell again led the way for LIU Post after she earned a pair of personal-bests. She finished fourth in the javelin (39.92 meters) and sixth in the hammer throw (43.51 meters) as she continued her strong outdoor season.
 
Junior Kaitlyn Klein took eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.49 meters while junior Alexandria Okon also finished eighth in the 800 meters after clocking in at 2:15.62 seconds.
 
In the high jump, junior Nicole Costanzo finished fifth (1.50 meters) and sophomore Kayra Theodore seventh (1.45 meters).
 
Four Pioneers posted season-bests; sophomore Kelly Holownia in the triple jump (10.60 meters), freshman Nicole Iannuzzi in the triple jump (9.80 meters), senior Kaitie Schillaci in the 800 meters (2:26.26) and freshman Margaret McKeever in the 1500 meters (5:08.36).
 
On the men's side, freshman DeAndre Smith tied his personal-best mark of 6'5.50'' in the high jump to tie for fourth and junior Justin Ortega took fifth in the 100 hurdles in 16.46.
 
Freshman Robert Skidmore earned a personal-best in the discus (36.85 meters) and sophomore Troy Benson earned a personal-best in the 400 meters (53.74) and 200 meters (23.96).

The Pioneers will compete at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships in Farmingdale, New York, at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20.
