BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 1, 2008) - Juniors
Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) and
Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) both scored four goals and tallied three assists, as the top-ranked women's lacrosse team rolled to an 18-4 East Coast Conference victory over Molloy College.
The Pioneers remain a perfect 8-0 overall and improve to 2-0 in the ECC, while Molloy drops to 4-4 and 0-3 in ECC play.
The Pioneers got the scoring started two minutes and forty-six seconds into the game, when Napoli assisted on
Jenna Miller's 13th goal of the season.
Molloy tied the score less than a minute later when Kristie Sosnowski scored on an Erin Brady link.
C.W. Post ripped off five unanswered goals, including two by Napoli, to take a 6-1 lead.
The Lions scored their second goal of the game with 9:41 remaining in the half, when Rebecca LaFlare scored an unassisted goal.
The Pioneers scored the next 11 goals of the game to take a commanding 17-2 lead, and Molloy mustered only two goals the rest of the game.
Senior goalkeeper
Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.) won her eighth game of the season between the pipes, making nine saves and allowing only three goals.
Elaine Williams (East Islip, N.Y.) scored three goals and added an assist,
Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y.) scored two goals and assisted on two others, and
Brianne Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) and
Jenna Miller (Silver Spring, Md.) each had a goal and an assist.
Rebecca LaFlare scored two goals for the Lions.
Head coach
Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers travel to St. Thomas Aquinas tomorrow, April 2, to take on the Spartans in another ECC match-up. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
