– The C.W. Post baseball team, behind the pitching of junior Bobby Kay (Stony Brook, N.Y.), defeated East Coast Conference opponent Concordia College, 2-0, Sunday afternoon.

C.W. Post improves to 16-17 overall and 9-6 in the ECC while Concordia drops to 7-22 overall and 3-12 in the conference.

Kay, who went the distance on the mound, let up just four hits while striking out 10 and issuing no walks to complete his third shutout of the season to improve to 4-1.

The Pioneers scored both runs in the bottom half of the second inning when senior first baseman Tim Sylvester (Farmingdale, N.Y.) singled to right field and advanced to second on an error by the right fielder to score junior right fielder Bruce Testa (Glen Cove, N.Y.) from third. The game's second run was scored during the next play when senior designated hitter Mike Sylvester (Farmingdale, N.Y.) grounded out the pitcher as senior third baseman Steve Algarroba (Astoria, N.Y.) came in to score from third.

Seven different Pioneers recorded a hit in the game off Clippers starting pitcher Tommy Paradise.   Paradise completed the game for Concordia, letting up two runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking three.

C.W. Post will play it next three opponents on the road, beginning at Caldwell College on Apr. 14.
