CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.  (May 12, 2008) – Junior catcher Brian Anderson (Nesconset, N.Y.) batted .471 (8-17) in the East Coast Conference Baseball Championship tournament and was named Player of the Week. Senior Keith Karlsen (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was named the Pitcher of the Week as he went 2-0 with two appearances for the Pioneers.
 
Anderson drove in four runs and scored five and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player as C.W. Post captured its first-ever conference championship title. 
 
Karlsen made two appearances during the tournament and shut down opposing batters, recording no earned runs while allowing just eight hits in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
 
The Pioneers (29-25) also advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1985 and will face host Franklin Pierce University in the opening round of the Northeast Regional on Thursday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at Dr. Pappas Field in Rindge, New Hampshire.
