Schmidt, Carter Selected To Daktronics All-Region Teams
Le Moyne junior forward Laurence Ekperigin has been named the Daktronics Regional Player of the Year.
Schmidt, a two-time East Coast Conference Player of the Year and Sporting News preseason first-team All-American, Schmidt is 37th in the country and leads the ECC in scoring (19.1 ppg). He has recorded double figures 26 times this season and leads the Pioneers in assists (6.1) and minutes played (36.9). Earlier this season, Schmidt became the all-time leading scorer at C.W. Post, surpassing Garee Bryant's record of 1,835 set in 1999.
Carter is right behind Schmidt with 18.0 points per game, good for third in the conference and second on the Pioneers. He was voted the East Coast Conference tournament MVP He leads the Pioneers with 67 three-point field goals and has 53 steals this season, and has scored in double figures in all but one game this season, tallying ten 20-plus point games.
C.W. Post (17-0), ranked second in the latest NABC coaches poll, clinched the East Coast Conference title and will host the upcoming NCAA men's basketball East Regional and will face Philadelphia University March 14 at 6 p.m.
