No. 3 Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Southern New Hampshire, 17-6

MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 13, 2009) – Seven players each scored a pair of goals as third-ranked C.W. Post defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 17-6, in a non-conference women's lacrosse match Friday afternoon.
 
The win improves the Pioneers to 2-1 overall. The Penmen fall to 1-2 overall.
 
C.W. Post outshot the Penmen by a 42-19 count and won 15 of 25 draw controls.
 
The game's first two goals were scored by junior attacker Staci Passafiume (Port Jefferson, N.Y.), the second on a feed from senior midfielder Samantha Lyons (Farmingdale, N.Y.).
 
Senior midfielder Libby Parent put one on the board for SNHU on an assist from senior attacker Maura Murphy at 23:06. 
 
The Pioneers answered back by outscoring the Penmen 7-2 for the remainder of the half that included two goals apiece from senior attacker Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.), junior midfielder Brianne Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.). C.W. Post led 10-3 at the half.
  
The second was much of the same as the Pioneers kept the pressure on, opening the half with three unanswered tallies. SNHU broke up the run with a goal at 19:35 from graduate midfielder Lucretia Joy. 
 
Both Lyons and sophomore attacker Taryn Crimi (West Islip, N.Y.) scored back-to-back goals over the next 12 minutes to build C.W. Post's lead to 17-4. 
 
Sherry Darrell and Emily Mongeau scored the game's final two goals of the game for Southern New Hampshire.
 
Passafiume, Jackolski, senior midfielder Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Lyons, Crimi, Olen and sophomore attacker Michelle Fucich (Seaford, N.Y.) all knotted two goals apiece while Napoli finished the game with three goals and assist. Passafiume added four assists to her stats. 
 
C.W. Post will play at Southern Connecticut State University on March 17 at 4 p.m.
