Schmidt, Carter Receive NABC All-District Honors
KANSAS CITY, MO. (March 12, 2009)- The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced its pick for the NABC Division II All-District teams. Seniors Jonathan Schmidt (Centereach, N.Y.) and Nick Carter (Huntington Station, N.Y.) both received nods from the coaches of the NABC.
Schmidt, a 2009 ECC Player of the Year pick, was placed on the NABC Division II All-District East First Team. Earlier this season Schmidt captured the title of C.W. Post all-time leading scorer, shattering the 1,835 point record set by Garee Bryant in 1999. Currently, he leads the Pioneers with 176 assists and 561 points this season, including a career high 41-point game against NYIT (Feb. 18)
Carter, who earned ECC All-Conference first team accolades, is second on the Pioneers with 523 points this season. Shooting a team high .823 percent from the free throw line (102-124), Carter has also registered 55 steals and pulled down 160 rebounds in 936 minutes of play.
The Pioneers are back in action Tuesday, March 17 as they advance to the Sweet Sixteen taking Bentley College for the right to advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
