Walker Picks Up Weekly ECC Honor
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (March 30, 2009) – Senior second baseman Kyle Walker (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week, the East Coast Conference announced Monday.
It is the second time this season a Pioneer player has recieved Player of the Week honors.
Walker, helping the Pioneers to a 2-0 week, totaled four hits in a doubleheader split with Molloy to become the new all-time career leader in hits, with 209 (broke the old record of 208, set by Joe Cioffi in 1988). He went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in game two of the doubleheader to help the Pioneer to a 4-3 comeback victory after dropping game one 2-1 in 13 innings to the Lions. He added two hits in non-league game against New Haven.
C.W. Post returns to action on Thursday, April 2, as they travel to Bridgeport for an ECC game, starting at 3 p.m.
