C.W. Post got multi-hit games from five players and Mark Czerniawski (Glen Cove, N.Y.) threw a nine-inning shutout as the baseball team romped to an 11-0 victory over Mercy College on Friday afternoon in East Coast Conference baseball action.
C.W. Post improves to 10-23 and 7-5 in the conference, while Mercy slips to 8-14 and 2-9 in ECC action.
The Pioneers to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as Kyle Walker (Wantagh, N.Y.) led off the game with the triple and scored on Bryan Bonin's (Commack, N.Y.) groundout to second base. Back-to-back singles by Mike Callaghan (East Meadow, N.Y.) and Brian Anderson (Nesconset, N.Y.) followed by a walk to Anthony Montesano (Bellmore, N.Y.) loaded the bases. Stephen Orefice (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) walked to force in a run and Bruce Testa's (Glen Cove, N.Y.) sacrifice fly to center field plated another run.
Another two runs in the fourth inning came off a sacrifice fly to center by Walker, scoring #P.J. Ragone# (Deer Park, N.Y.) who had doubled. Anderson singled home another run for a 5-0 lead.
Two more runs in the sixth came on a fielder's choice by Montesano that scored two runs, and another three runs in the seventh capped by a two-run double down the left field line by Walker gave C.W. Post a 10-0 lead heading into the ninth inning. One more run in the ninth inning sealed the victory for the Pioneers.
Czerniawski had a final stat line of seven hits, no run, three walks and seven strikeouts. 
Offensively, Walker was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Jordan Stevens (Sound Beach, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, Callaghan was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Anderson was 2-for-5 with a runs scored and an RBI, and Ragone was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
C.W. Post returns to action against Mercy tomorrow, Sunday April 18, in a noon doubleheader.
