11 Straight Wins For No. 2 Women's Lacrosse As They Defeat St. Michael's, 20-7

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 17, 2009) – Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) led the way with five goals as the second-ranked women's lacrosse team stormed to a 20-7 win over St. Michael's College on Friday afternoon on Hickox Field.
The win is the 11th straight for the Pioneers, who improve to 11-1 overall (2-0 ECC), while the loss drops the Purple Knights to 3-8 overall (3-4 NE-10).
Napoli got the Pioneers on the board less than twenty seconds into the contest as she tallied an unassisted notch at 29:46, and she doubled the lead with a free position shot at 27:12 to take a 2-0 lead.
Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) fired home an unassisted tally at 24:59 and
Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) tallied another goal on a free position attempt at 24:11 to put the team up 4-0.
Napoli found the back of the net for her third goal of the game off a
Samantha Lyons (Farmingdale, N.Y.) feed and a 5-0 Pioneer advantage.
Amanda Pelley took a Kim Berlo pass and fired home a goal to get St. Michael's on the board at 20:46, but C.W. Post got back-to-back goals unassisted goals from
Katie Hogan and
Staci Passafiume to take a 7-1 lead.
St. Michael's pulled to within 7-2 on an Eliza Scoba goal but the Pioneers closed out the second half with four straight goals including two by Lyons.
Brianne Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) teamed up withPassafiume for her second goal of the game to open the second half at 28:45 for a 12-2 lead.
Napoli's fifth goal of the game pushed the lead to 13-2 at 27:10, and the Pioneers and Purple Knights traded goals but five straight C.W. Post goals including unassisted tallies by
Taryn Crimi (West Islip, N.Y.) and
Lauren Romanelli (Oyster Bay, N.Y.).
St. Michael's scored three of the last four goals but the Pioneer advantage was just too much as the hosts ended the game at 20-7.
In addition to Napoli's five scores, Jackolski added three goals and an assist, Hogan added three goals, Passafiume tallied two scores and one assist, and Lyons and Olen each added two goals.
Sam Powers (Holbrook, N.Y.) made three saves in earning the victory and improving to 11-1.
C.W. Post remains in action at home as they take on No. 5 Lock Haven at noon on Hickox Field.
