The Lady Eagles drew first blood as Clare Gaeng scored off a feed from Kayleigh Johnson at 28:02 for a 1-0 lead. But C.W. But Lock Haven answered right back with the equalizer as Johnson fired home an unassisted tally at 15:21 to make the score 2-2.
Brianne Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) gave the Pioneers a 3-2 lead with a free position shot at 14:19, but again saw the Lady Eagles answer back with Elyse Fisher scoring off a Jamie Uzialko pass at 13:07 for a 3-3 tie.
The teams traded goals again as Passafiume scored at 12:56 and Fisher tied it again at 7:10, and Hogan gave the Pioneers a 5-4 advantage at 4:24 only to see Lock Haven answer back yet again with Leigh Titus' unassisted tally.
However, the Pioneers were finally able to string two goal together as Samantha Lyons(Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Passafiume each added goals with under one and a half minutes to play, making the score 7-5, and although Titus struck again for an unassisted score with 17 seconds to play in the first, the Pioneers were able to take a 7-6 lead into the halftime break.
The Pioneers picked up right where they left off coming out of the break as Lyons (26:25), Napoli (24:05) and Jackolski (23:46) scored consecutive goals to push the lead to 10-6.
But Lock Haven was not finished threatening as they too scored back-to-back goals to draw to 10-8. But the Pioneers responded with a Nan Mayott (Islip, N.Y.) at 16:50 and another Hogan tally at 14:46 to push the lead back to four, 12-8.
Lock Haven again struck two goals together by Kate Smyth and Fisher, but the Pioneers answered with three straight goals of their own, all by Hogan, and at 5:53 remaining to play, had a 15-10 lead.
The teams would trade goals over the last five minutes of play but the Pioneer lead proved insurmountable for the Lady Eagles as Napoli, Lyons and Mayott added tallies to ice the win.
