– Freshman Jordan Stevens (Sound Beach, N.Y.) drove in a combined five runs in an East Coast Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon against Concordia College. The Clippers captured both wins, beating out the Pioneers 9-6 in 10 innings in the opener and taking the second game, 9-6.
Concordia boosts its record to 21-19-1 overall and 12-7 in the ECC while C.W. Post drops to 12-16 overall and 9-8 in conference play.
Concordia held a 3-2 leading heading into the bottom of the ninth inning before senior second baseman Kyle Walker (Wantagh, N.Y.) hit a game-tying single to score freshman Eddie Bartley (Bethpage, N.Y.).
Concordia pushed the winning-run across in the top of the 10th when sophomore designated hitter Joe Vaskas singled up the middle with two outs that scored sophomore leftfielder Donny Madera from third.
Junior Tommy Paradise earned his third win of the season, pitching nine innings and allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out seven batters with one walk issued.
Junior Mark Czerniawski (Glen Cove, N.Y.) took the loss, scattering six hits through six innings and allowing two earned runs while fanning 12 batters.
In the nightcap, the Clippers took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first highlighted by a two-run single from Vaskas.
The Pioneers knotted the score in the bottom of the second when Stevens hit his second triple of the day to drive in two runs. Junior shortstop Bryan Bonin (Commack, N.Y.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field that scored Stevens.
Concordia broke the game open in the sixth inning with six runs scored courtesy of six hits and three Pioneer errors to lead 9-3.
C.W. Post added two in the fifth with an RBI double to right field from Walker and a sacrifice fly to right field from senior catcher Anthony Montesano (Bellmore, N.Y.).
The Pioneers added another run in the sixth when Stevens hit a sacrifice fly to right field.
Senior Jose Aquino picked up his sixth win of the season, allowing six runs on five hits with one strikeout and five walks. Junior Jesse Horsham picked up the save and pitched the final two innings and allowing just one hit.
Freshman Glen Hudson (West Sayville, N.Y.) recorded his sixth loss of the season as he allowed five earned runs in six innings. Senior Dan Walsh (Centereach, N.Y.), sophomore Roger Pfeffer (Whitestone, N.Y.) and freshman Mike Alfano (Hauppauge, N.Y.) pitched in relief.
Madera batted 4 for 8 with an RBI and three runs scored for Concordia. 
C.W. Post will continue conference play with a single game at Concordia Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
