BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (April 26, 2009)- Catcher Steve Orefice (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) hit a home run and earned three RBIs, but Concordia College held on to edge past C.W. Post, 5-4, in 11 innings Sunday afternoon in a East Coast Conference matchup.

Concordia improves to 22-19-1 overall, 13-7 in the ECC, while C.W. Post falls to 12-27 overall, 9-9 in conference.

The Concordia Clippers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Joe Vaskas hit a double to right center, allowing two Clippers teammates to score. The Clippers struck again in the top of the second as second baseman Kenny Espinal slammed a double to left field, tallying two more runs.

The Pioneers rallied back in the sixth inning as Bruce Testa (Glen Cove, N.Y.) singled through the left side and advanced to second on a throw, allowing teammate Kyle Walker (Wantagh, N.Y.) to advance to third base and Mike Callaghan (East Meadow, N.Y.) to put the Pioneers first run on the board. Orefice singled to left center, allowing Walker and Testa to each score, and cutting the Clippers lead to one run.

Orefice struck again as he homered to left field, tying the teams at four runs a piece and sending the games into extra innings.

Difre Reyes lead Concordia to the win as he singled through the left side, allowing teammate Donny Madera to score. The run proved to be the game winner, as the Pioneers could not rally back in the eleventh inning

Brian Saldana (Deer Park, N.Y.) pitched eight innings for C.W. Post, allowing seven hits a four runs. Steven Ferrara (Farmingdale, N.Y.) finished out the game on the mound for the Pioneers allowing one hit and one run.

C.W. Post is back in action Monday, April 27, as they host the University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference matchup at 3 p.m.
