Women's Lacrosse Places Six On IWLCA North Region Teams
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 21, 2009) - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its 2009 Division II All-North Region Team on May 21, and four members of the C.W. Post women's lacrosse team received First Team kudos in the release, while two others were named to the second team. First team selections fromt he Pioneers inclue seniors Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.), and juniors Staci Passafiume (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Kim Williams (Long Valley, N.J.). Seniors Jesse Wolf (West Islip, N.Y.) and Samantha Lyons (Farmingdale, N.Y.) garnered Second Team recognition.
Hogan, a three-time IWLCA All-North Region first team selection, was the second-leading goal scorer on the Pioneers with 63 scores and 18 assists. The senior also led the team with 74 draw controls, 28 caused turnovers and was second with 36 ground balls.
Napoli scored 60+goals for the second straight season as she led the Pioneers and also broke the single-season record with 67 goals. The senior attacker, making her second appearance on the IWLCA All-North Region first team, finished third with 25 assists for a total of 92 points. She tallied four game-winning goals and was 10-15 in free position attempts.
Passafiume, a junior attacker, led the Pioneers with 46 assists on the season, also tallying 29 scores. She picked up 33 ground balls, good for third on the team, and totaled 75 points, also third on the team.
Williams repeats last year's selection to the IWLCA All-North Region First Team, and put up standout defensive numbers with a team-high 48 ground balls, 21 caused turnovers, and 20 draw controls. She also scored a goal and dished out three assists.
Wolf was another stalwart on the defensive end for C.W. Post as she picked up 27 ground balls, caused 12 turnovers , and grabbled 11 draw controls. The senior defender also added one goal and one assists.
Lyons put together an excellent senior season for the Pioneers, scoring 33 goals including five game-winners, and adding 31 assists, totalying 54 points. She alssxo scooped up seven ground balls and caused five turnovers.
