Napoli, Hogan Receive IWLCA Player Of The Year Recognition
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (June 19, 2009) – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced the honorees for the Player of the Year. Seniors Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) and Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were named Attacker and Midfielder of the Year, respectively.
Adelphi University's Caitlin Fitzpatrick was honored as the C. Markland Kelly Goalkeeper of the Year and Katie Zichelli of Lock Haven University was the Defender of the Year.
Napoli is also appearing on the All-America team for the third straight season, as she completed her senior season scoring 60-plus goals for the second straight season as she led the Pioneers and also broke the single-season record with 67 goals. The senior finished third with 25 assists for a total of 92 points. She tallied four game-winning goals and was 10-15 in free position attempts.
Hogan, a three-time IWLCA All-North Region first team selection, was the second-leading goal scorer on the Pioneers with 63 scores and 18 assists. The senior also led the team with 74 draw controls, 28 caused turnovers and was second with 36 ground balls.
C.W. Post (16-3, 3-1 ECC) made its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Championships and was ranked second in the final IWLCA poll.
