Nine First Place Finishes Propel Swimming to a Victory Over Sacred Heart, 120-82

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2010) – C.W Post women's swimming team came up with its second dual meet win to start out the 2010-2011 season. The Pioneers were able to come up with nine first place finishes out of the 11 events, including two relay events as the final score favored the Pioneers 120, and the Sacred Heart Pioneers 82.
The day began with a relay event, as the C.W. Post relay team A defeated two different Sacred Heart relay teams in the 400 Medley Relay. The team comprised of freshmen
Mathilda Hyddmark (Lund, Sweden) and
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada) and sophomores
Sandra Kirstein (Holliviken, Sweden) and
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, United Kingdom) finished the event in a time of 4:05.84.
Sacred Heart found victories in the second and ninth events of the day. The 1000 Free was completed in a time of 11:03 by Sacred Heart freshman Amy Nunes. Senior Katie Marshall found a victory during the 500 Free when she finished in a time of 5:21.76.

Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario) ended the day with two individual wins and being a part of the relay team that won the 200 Free Relay. Cassidy won the 200 Free in a time of 2:00.0, and then later completed the 100 Butterfly in a winning time of 58.57. Her relay team finished a time of 1:40 to complete a victory in the 200 Free Relay. She was joined on the relay squad by Kirstein, Morrison, and sophomore
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden).
Garriock added three individual victories to her already one team relay win. The freshman from Canada finished the 50 Free in a time of 24.39, the 100 Free in 53.42, and the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:01.82.
Hyddmark placed first in an individual event with her victory during the 100 Back, as she finished the course in a time of 1:03. Freshman
Sandra Luiga also came away from the event with an individual event victory, as her 4:43.08 time was good enough for first during the 400 Individual Medley.
The C.W. Post women's swimming team will next compete Saturday Nov. 13 as the squad travels to Southern Connecticut State for a dual meet.
