Volleyball Earns Sweep Against Felician, 3-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 8, 2010) – The C.W. Post Volleyball team completed a three match sweep against Felician on Tuesday night (25-15, 25-9, 25-10). The win puts the Pioneers at an overall season mark of 4-2 to this point.
The Pioneer attack was a balanced one, as the 31 total team kills were spread out through the team. Freshman
Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) led all players in the contest with nine kills. She also added six digs to her night, helping control any Felician attack. Fellow freshman
Shayla Hixson (Honolulu, Hawaii) also put forth a strong effort on the Pioneer attack, as she registered eight kills and five service aces. She also was second on the team in digs with eight. Senior
Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) was the distributor of the group, as she dished out 22 assists throughout the three game match.
On the defensive side, senior
Sammy Figliolia (Wantagh, N.Y.) led all participants with 11 digs. As well as being a key part of the defense, she also was able to contribute six service aces for the Pioneer offense.
For Felician, Alexa Scrivanich led the team with six kills. On the other side of the ball, Nicole Degenhardt and Ashlee DiSalvo both notched the team lead in digs with eight each.
Next for the Pioneers is a home double-match on Saturday. At 11 a.m., C.W. Post will take on Pace University. And then later on at 3 p.m., Southern Connecticut State University will be the opponent in the Pratt Recreation Center.
