Swimming Defeats East Stroudsburg, 133-120, On Senior Night

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (January 13, 2011) – On senior night, C.W. Post swimming was able to manage a 133-120 meet defeat over the Warriors of East Stroudsburg. Prior to the meet, senior
Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario) was honored for her accomplishments and four years spent on the women's swimming team.
During the meet, Cassidy was able to come away with two individual race wins along with a relay win. It was the first event of the night that Cassidy won the 200 Medley Relay with her teammates. The team was comprised of sophomore duo
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, United Kingdom) and
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada). Cassidy individual victories came during two Butterfly events, the 100 and 200.
Four other Pioneer swimmers also came away with two individual victories each. Cassidy's teammates on the first relay event, Hanes and Garriock, were two of those competitors. Hanes earned her victories in back-to-back sprinting events, the 50 Free and 100 Free. Garriock came away with wins during the 500 Free, as well as the 200 Free.
The other two Pioneer swimmers to came away with two individual wins each were sophomore
Kristina Fritsch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman
Chelcee Hew (Savage, Minn.). Fritsch won the longest event of the day, the 1000 Free, along with the 200 Back. Hew continued her impressive freshman campaign with another two victories during the 500 Free and the 200 Individual Medley.
C.W. Post will next be in action on Saturday, January 16, as the team will travel to the College of New Jersey for a dual meet. The competition is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
