Swimming Complete Friday of the Metropolitan Championships With Impressive Cuts

PISCATWAY, N.J. (February 19, 2011) – C.W. Post Women's swimming completed Friday at the Metropolitan Championships with many different individuals and one relay team accumulating NCAA cuts. Friday was the first day of the championships, with Saturday and Sunday still available for more cuts to be made.

The relay team of Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada), Mairi Morrison (Carnock, United Kingdom), Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario), and Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) set two separate cuts in two events on Friday. During the 200 Free Relay, the team finished the event in a second place time of 1:35.28. This time also qualified for a NC2B cut. Later, the same squad set a 3:55.01 third place time for a NCAB cut during the 400 Medley Relay.

As far as Pioneer individuals, four different swimmers set NCAA Cuts. Garriock placed second during the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:07.51, qualifying for a NCAB cut. During that same event, Chelcee Hew (Savage, Minn.) finished four with a time of 2:09.72. This qualified her for NC2B cut.

In the 50 Free event Hanes earned a NCAB qualifying time of 24.05, good enough for second place in the event. Also in the events, Morrison qualified for NC2B cuts with a time of 24.28.
