Day One: Hanes Earns a New School Record; Relay Team Named Honorable Mention All Americans at NCAAs

PALO ALTO, TEXAS (March 10, 2011) – The C.W. Post women's swimming team finished the first day of competition at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday, with one individual event and one relay team even in the books.

Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) was the lone Pioneer to swim in an individual event on Wednesday, competing in the 50 Free. Hanes finished in a time of 23.73, earning one point for the Pioneers in the standings. Hanes's time also sets a new record for C.W. Post in the 50 Free. 
Hanes joined with Mairi Morrison (Carnock, United Kingdom), Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada), and Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario)in the 200 Medley Relay. The squad finished in a time of 1:46.56, earning eight points with result. The time is the third best result for a Pioneer team during a 200 Medley Relay event in school accolades and the squad earned a Honorable Mention All America nod with the performance.
The Pioneers currently sit in 20th place out of 25 teams competing after the first day of the NCAAs.
