BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Oct. 3, 2015) - On Saturday, the 17th-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team got two goals from senior forward
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) and three assists from sophomore forward
Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.), as the Pioneers cruised to a 6-0 win over University of Bridgeport in East Coast Conference action at Knights Field.
The win improved the Pioneers to a perfect 3-0 in ECC action (7-1 overall), while the Purple Knights fell to 3-1 in league play (7-2 overall).
In the opening half, the green and gold scored early and often, putting up four unanswered goals in a span of 6:24.
The first tally was an own goal off a Bridgeport defender. Then, Lampkin found Forgaard and the Stavanger native sent a long shot into the mesh for a 2-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later, sophomore back
Oliver Hollingsaeter (Ålesund, Norway) corraled a pass from Lampkin and finished it for the quick 3-0 advantage.
Just over two minutes after that, the Pioneers struck again. This time, Lampkin found freshman forward
Charlie Ledula (London, England) wide open in the center of the box and Ledula buried the shot.
In the second half, senior forward
Matias Ruiz (Southampton, N.Y.) sent a corner kick into the box that Forgaard headed home for his second goal of the game.
Then, just over two minutes later, graduate back
Seb Baxter (Saffron Walden, England) scored his first goal as a member of the Pioneers to cap the scoring,
Junior keeper
Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) made three saves in 72:30 of play to earn his seventh win of the season.
Head Coach
Andreas Lindberg and the Pioneers return to the pitch on Tuesday (Oct. 6), when they head to Brookhaven, N.Y. to take on Dowling College in an ECC battle. The opening kick is slated for 7 p.m.
