The Pioneers (1-0) won seven of the 10 weight classes on the afternoon, including six straight bouts.

Sophomore Joe Calderone (Huntington Station, N.Y.) recorded three takedowns and six near-fall points, en route to a 14-0 majoring of Dante Steffenino (Green Lane, Pa.) at 133 lbs.

In the 141-lb. discipline, freshman T.J. Fabian (Wading River, N.Y.) and Cody Blankenship (Kane, Pa.) were tied 6-6 in the third period, until a key two-point reversal with less than a minute remaining gave Fabian an eventual 9-6 win.

Sophomore Matt Langan (Wantagh, N.Y.) and red-shirt sophomore Jackson Mordente (Farmingville, N.Y.) individually posted 7-4 and 5-0 victories at the 149- and 157-lb. weight classes.

Leading 6-0 after one period, sophomore Ed Ramirez, Jr. (Massapequa, N.Y.) pinned Gray Garber (Perkiomenville, Pa.) just 32 seconds into the ensuing stanza to earn six points for LIU Post.

In the 174-lb. match, freshman Dan Arkow (Merrick, N.Y.) notched two third-period takedowns and an escape to defeat Mark Lentz (Boiling Springs, Pa.), 8-3.

Lastly, freshman Monair McDonald (Roosevelt, N.Y.) used the riding time point (+1:48) to edge Derek Earnest (Hughesville, Pa.) at heavyweight, 2-1.

Head Coach Joe Patrovich and his LIU Post squad return to the mat on Sunday (Nov. 15), when they face Binghamton University, Army and Springfield College at the Journeyman/Asics Northeast Duals in Albany, N.Y.
