CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 3, 2015) - After finishing the 2014 campaign in a tie for fourth place in the East Coast Conference, the LIU Post baseball team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2015 ECC Preseason Poll, released Tuesday.
First-year head coach
Mike Gaffney and the Pioneers will feature solid pitching once again as senior
Joey Arena (Yorktown, N.Y), sophomore
Jake DeCarli (Higganum, Conn.), junior
Chris Anderson (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore
James Long (Oceanside, N.Y) will headline the starting rotation.
LIU Post also returns red-shirt senior third baseman
Tom Tolan (Malverne, N.Y.), the reigning ECC Player of the Year. Tolan hit .361 last season, primarily out of the leadoff spot. Sophomore reliever
Dan Jagiello (West Islip, N.Y) and graduate hurler
Connor McCarthy (Westbury, N.Y.) will also be called upon to get big outs for the Pioneers in 2015.
The Pioneers are scheduled to open the 2015 campaign at home with a doubleheader against Franklin Pierce on Feb. 28, before heading to Lantana, Fla. for the Palm Beach Challenge.
