Baseball Stays at Ninth in Latest NCBWA East Region Poll

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Apr. 27, 2015) - The LIU Post baseball team remained at No. 9 in the latest NCBWA Division II East Region Poll, released on Monday.

The Pioneers (17-14, 14-10 ECC) split with Queens last week to wrap up their East Coast Conference regular-season slate.

The green and gold took the first two contests to secure a berth in next week's ECC Tournament, doing so in dramatic fashion. Junior second baseman Matt Bowers (Staten Island, N.Y.) delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to win the series opener, 2-1, on Friday (Apr. 24). The win, coupled with Mercy's two victories over Molloy, locked up the Pioneers' first playoff berth since 2011.

Head Coach Mike Gaffney and his LIU Post squad will face regional opponent AIC on Tuesday (Apr. 28) at the LIU Post Baseball Field at 3:30 p.m. The Pioneers will then conclude the regular season with a game at Division I Hofstra on Wednesday (Apr. 29).
