SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2016) - The LIU Post men's and women's indoor track and field teams ran in its second meet in as many days Saturday, competing at the St. Joseph's College Winter Invitational at St. Anthony's High School.
For the men, junior
Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.) turned in a winning time of 52.13 in the 400-meter run. He also sprinted to a 23.74 clocking in the 200-meter dash, which was good for sixth place.
Three other Pioneers raced to Top-15 finishes in the 200-dash, as well. Red-shirt sophomore
Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) won his heat and placed eighth overall at 23.90. Red-shirt freshman
Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) clocked a 10th-place 23.93, while red-shirt sophomore
Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) finished in 15th place (24.12).
In the 4x200-meter relay, Joseph, Thomas, Ward and red-shirt junior
Wayne Harris (Jamaica, N.Y.), who was seventh (7.36) in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash, recorded a fourth-place 1:33.90.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman
Jermaine Ifill (Flushing, N.Y.) took first in his respective heat in the 400-run, crossing at a seventh-place time of 54.15.
In the field events, Ward and Thomas individually finished second and sixth in the long jump, leaping to distances of 6.33 (20 feet, 9.25 inches) and 5.62 meters (18 feet, 5.25 inches). Junior
Devin Pettaway (Amityville, N.Y.) notched a personal-best 12.48 meters (40 feet, 11.5 inches) in the triple jump.
Sophomore
Nicolette DeSouza (Stroudsburg, Pa.) paced the women's side, clocking fifth- (8.40) and ninth-place (28.78) efforts in the 60- and 200-dash, respectively.
In the 400-meter run, freshman
Charlene Hickey (East Meadow, N.Y.) came in seventh, finishing in 1:07.26. Junior
Chloe Margulis (Port Washington, N.Y.) was 12th (1:11.23).
LIU Post returns to action on Friday (Jan. 22), when they travel to Staten Island to compete at the NYC Gotham Cup, hosted by Manhattan College at 1 p.m. at the Ocean Breeze Park Track and Field Athletic Complex
