PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2016) - Sophomore forward/midfielder Emily Miller (Bridgewater, N.J.) tallied a hat trick Wednesday to power the No. 7 LIU Post field hockey team to a 3-1 win versus Pace University in a Northeast-10 Conference clash at Finnerty Field.

It is the second time this year that Miller has scored three goals in a game. She previously recorded a hat trick on Sept. 7 in a 5-2 upset of then-No. 3 West Chester.

Miller first got the Pioneers (10-3, 6-3 NE-10) on the board in the 28th minute. After Alyssa Lopresti (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) beat her defender through the midfield, she sent a cross to Miller, who unleashed a shot into the left side of the cage for the game's opening goal.

However, the Setters (7-8, 4-6 NE-10) tied the contest right before the break. Sophomore forward Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, N.Y.) converted on a penalty stroke at the horn for the equalizer.

In the second half, Miller put the green and gold back on top for good, firing a shot past Pace junior goalie Lesly Sanchez Alvarez (Stamford, Conn.) in the 41st minute.

Nearly nine minutes later, Miller completed the hat trick, off an assist from Tarryn Morris (New Cumberland, Pa.), to extend LIU Post's advantage to 3-1.

For the contest, the Pioneers doubled up the Setters in shots (14-7). Miller led all players with seven shots (five SOG). Senior forward Melissa Quintanilla (Rome, N.Y.) added two shots.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad are back at it Saturday (Oct. 22), when they travel to Springfield, Mass. for their 2016 road finale at NE-10 foe American International College. Action is slated to get underway from Ronald J. Abdow Field at noon.
