PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Mar. 17, 2016) - The No. 4/5 LIU Post women's lacrosse team exploded for 11 unanswered goals in the first half Wednesday afternoon, en route to a 17-5 win at Philadelphia University in non-conference action at Ravenhill Field.
The Pioneers (4-1), who brought an 11-0 lead into the break, got three goals each from senior attacker
Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) and freshman midfielder
Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) in the opening 30 minutes. Senior defender/midfielder
Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) contributed a pair of goals.
Delaney netted two of her three tallies just 18 seconds apart, while Roche struck for back-to-back goals over a span of 1:04. In all, LIU Post scored 11 of its first-half goals on 14 shots on net.
That proved to be all LIU Post needed in securing its third-consecutive victory. The latter half saw the green and gold build their lead to 14-1 on a
Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) tally at the 21:16 mark.
Delaney finished with a game-high eight points (3 G, 5 A). McKinney and junior attacker
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.), who won three draws, collected five points apiece. Vagelatos added two goals and an assist for a three-point day. In addition to her two goals, Roche scooped up five draw controls and caused two turnovers.

Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made five saves in 51:08 of work. Senior cageminder

For the contest, the Pioneers outshot the Rams (1-2) by a 24-15 count. They also held a 16-8 advantage in draws.

Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad return to action Saturday (Mar. 19), when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. for a noon opening draw at East Coast Conference opponent Roberts Wesleyan College.
