CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 21, 2016) - After a solid week at the plate, LIU Post sophomore outfielder James Cohan (Syosset, N.Y.) has been named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday evening.

Cohan went 4-for-6 in two games last week. His biggest knock was a pinch-hit, two-out, bases-clearing triple in the top of the ninth against University of New Haven that tied the score and forced extras. The Pioneers eventually won the game by an 8-7 count in 10 innings.

Earlier in the week, Cohan went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases in a 6-1 win over Bloomfield College.

Cohan and the Pioneers return to the diamond on Thursday (Mar. 24), when they host Molloy College in their 2016 ECC opener in Brookville. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
