KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Jan. 20, 2017) - The LIU Post wrestling team kicked off competition at the Kutztown Duals Friday with a thrilling 24-20 win over Millersville University at Keystone Arena.

Down 6-0 after the first bout, the Pioneers (8-4) reeled off four consecutive victories to grab a 15-6 advantage at the midway point of the match.

Freshman Anthony Sparacio (North Babylon, N.Y.) put the green and gold on the board with a hard-fought 13-10 decision over Aaron Wildonger (Elverson, Pa.) at 133 lbs.

Then, at 141, senior Vinny Turano (Wantagh, N.Y.) gave LIU Post the lead with an 18-2 technical fall win against Kyle Loeb (Glen Mills, Pa.).

Senior T.J. Fabian (Wading River, N.Y.) followed with a 3-0 blanking of David Charles (New Providence, Pa.) at 149, while red-shirt junior Jackson Mordente (Farmingville, N.Y.) majored Seth Decker (Spring Mills, Pa.) by an 11-0 count at 157.

From there, the Marauders (1-4) eventually rallied to tie the score at 15-all, before Dan McClure (Westhampton, N.Y.) moved the Pioneers back in front with a 3-0 victory at the 184-lb. weight class.

However, the green and gold trailed heading into the final bout of the contest. Junior James Louison (Hauppauge, N.Y.), who scored six unanswered points to open the heavyweight match, won it for the Pioneers via injury default over David Wuestner (Hummelstown, Pa.).

Head Coach Joe Patrovich and his LIU Post squad return to the mat Saturday (Jan. 21), when they conclude the Kutztown Duals with matches against Belmont Abbey College, Minot State University and Tiffin University at Keystone Arena in Kutztown.
