Results
NEW YORK, N.Y. (Feb. 17, 2017) - The LIU Post men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed Friday at the Artie O'Connor Invitational at the New Balance Track and Field Center in Manhattan.
The women's team earned an impressive fifth-place finish at the meet, while the men's team came in 12th out of 26 squads.
For the women, junior
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) completed the mile in a second-place time of 5:02.65. Graduate
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) followed in fifth at 5:14.38.
Freshman
Alexandria Okon (Laurel, Md.) placed third (1:19.97) in the 500-meter run. Fellow freshman
Nicolette Agostinacchio (Wantagh, N.Y.) took fourth (2:21.66) in the 800-meter run.
In the 1,000-meter run, graduate
Ashlin Conroy (Syosset, N.Y.) finished ninth in the long-distance race, after crossing at a time of 3:04.20.
Then, in the 4 x 400-meter relay, the foursome of Okon, Conroy, Agostinacchio and sophomore
Kaitie Schillaci (Albany, N.Y.) teamed up for a second-place finish of 4:06.76. Their time was only one-thousandth of a second shy of winning the event.
Freshman
Nicole Costanzo (Nesconset, N.Y.) tied her personal-best in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches). She also came in third in her flight in the triple jump with a leap of 10.16 meters (33 feet, 4 inches).
Meanwhile, freshman
Kaitlyn Klein (Richmondville, N.Y.) matched her school record in the shot put, recording a fourth-place toss of 11.81 meters (38 feet, 9 inches). Additionally, she placed seventh in the weight throw with a heave of 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10.5 inches).
The men's team was led by senior
Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.), who won the 500-meter run in a personal-best 1:06.28. He added a 14th-place run of 22.63 in the 200-meter dash, as well.
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman
Justin Ortega (Bay Shore, N.Y.) sprinted to a fifth-place clocking of 9.06.
Freshman
Kurt Lassiter (Clifton, N.J.) placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 11.34 meters (37 feet, 2.5 inches). Fellow freshman
Liam Hendricks (St. James, N.Y.) took 12th in the event with a heave of 11.07 meters (36 feet, 4 inches).
In the weight throw, red-shirt freshman
Angelo Fradelakis (Patchogue, N.Y.) came in second in his heat and finished 11th overall with a toss of 9.97 meters (32 feet, 8.5 inches).
Lastly, freshman
Twary McKenzie (Huntington, N.Y.) leapt to a mark of 5.93 meters (19 feet, 5.5 inches) in the long jump, which was good for a 13th-place finish.

Kevin Buckley and the Pioneers are back in action next Friday (Feb. 24), when they run at the East Coast Conference Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
