STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Feb. 24, 2017) - The LIU Post men's indoor track and field team came in fourth Friday at the 2017 East Coast Conference Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
Senior
Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.) captured the league title in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:04.06 and placed second in the 200-meter dash at 22.47. Meanwhile, freshman
Jeffrey Reyes (Bay Shore, N.Y.) won the 1,000-meter event in 2:32.59.
Sophomore
Jermaine Ifill (Flushing, N.Y.) sprinted to a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash, after crossing at 51.13. Freshman
Justin Ortega (Bay Shore, N.Y.) ran a 9.19 in the 60-meter hurdles, which was good for a fifth-place showing.
Red-shirt junior
Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) finished sixth (22.97) in the 200-dash and added a 10th-place run of 7.34 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash. Red-shirt sophomore
Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) preceded his teammate in the 60-dash, clocking a ninth-place time of 7.31.
In the 4 x 400-meter relay, the team of Adams, Reyes, Ifill and red-shirt junior
Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) recorded a second-place time and season-best mark of 3:23.25.
In the field events, freshman
Twary McKenzie (Huntington, N.Y.) took third in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump with respective leaps of 13.10 (42 feet, 11.75 inches) and 6.08 meters (19 feet, 11.5 inches).
Ward added a fourth-place leap of 6.30 meters (20 feet, 8 inches) in the long jump. Ortega finished fifth in the triple jump, posting a distance of 12.91 meters (42 feet, 4.25 inches).
Freshman
Liam Hendricks (St. James, N.Y.) recorded an eighth-place throw of 11.96 meters (39 feet, 3 inches) in the shot put. Fellow freshman
Kurt Lassiter (Clifton, N.J.) followed in ninth with a toss of 11.32 meters (37 feet, 1.75 inches).

Kevin Buckley and the Pioneers are back in action on Saturday, Mar. 4, when they wrap up the 2016-17 indoor season in Boston, Mass. at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at 9 a.m.
