BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Now in his fifth season as head coach of the LIU Post baseball program and coming off a season where he earned his 100
th career win, head coach
Mike Gaffney announced the team's 2019 schedule Wednesday morning. The Pioneers' slate is highlighted by 10 games against NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago and 18 games at the LIU Post Baseball Field.
LIU Post opens the 2019 campaign with a three-game series against the University of Tampa from February 15-17. The Pioneers then take part in the Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and open play on Feb. 21 against Southern New Hampshire University, a 2018 NCAA Division II College World Series participant. Games against Felician University and Stonehill College follow on February 22 while on February 23 LIU Post faces Concordia University (N.Y.). The Pioneers wrap up the Northeast Challenge with a game against LeMoyne University on February 24.
The Green & Gold's home opener takes place on February 28 against the University of New Haven followed by a three-game series against Pace University from March 1-3 at Peter X. Finnerty Field.
LIU Post then makes the trip to the USA Baseball National Training Center in Cary, North Carolina, for a series of games against opponents to be announced from March 9-11.
The Pioneers return to the LIU Post Baseball Field for a pair of doubleheaders on March 16 and 17 against Assumption College followed by five-straight road games starting with a contest against East Stroudsburg University on March 20.
East Coast Conference play begins with a four-game series at Lincoln University Pennsylvania from March 22-24.
Saint Thomas Aquinas is up next from March 29-31. From April 5-7 LIU Posts takes on Mercy College followed by a home contest against East Stroudsburg on April 10.
The University of Bridgeport follows from April 12-14 followed by Molloy College from April 20-22 and New York Institute of Technology from April 26-28.
Regular season play concludes with a series against Queen's College from May 3-5.
Postseason commences with the ECC Championships from April 9-11 at Angelo Lorenzo Field on the campus of NYIT.
The NCAA Division II Baseball Championship selection show takes place on May. 12; Regionals take place from May 16-19 while Super Regionals run from May 24-26.
The USA Baseball National Training Center in Cary, North Carolina, plays host to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship from June 1-8.
