WOMEN'S RESULTS
MAHWAH, N.J. – The LIU Post outdoor track & field teams opened the spring season at the Ramapo College Invitational March 30-31, with both sides finishing fifth overall in the team standings.
On the men's side, the Pioneers compiled 56 points for the weekend behind several outstanding performances. Graduate student
Stefan Adams led the way with first-place finishes in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. Adams recorded an outdoor personal-best time of 22.24 seconds during the 200m, and added a personal-best finish of 47.67 seconds during the 400m. Freshman
Jaelin Hood scored during the 400m as well, clocking a time of 50.38 seconds to take fourth place.
The impressive freshmen performances continued as first-year runners
Destyn Harding and
Jahmel Johnson qualified for the 100-meter dash final, with Harding placing third overall and Johnson adding a sixth-place finish with times of 11.33 seconds and 11.40 seconds, respectively.
In the relays, the group of seniors
Ramel Joseph,
Kasim Thomas, Johnson and Harding finished third with a time of 43.54 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay. The Pioneers also scored in the 4x800-meter relay, as the foursome of sophomore
Jeffrey Reyes, senior
Lance Edwards, freshman
Joseph Dorso and Adams took third overall in 8:15.74.
On the women's side, the Pioneers were equally as impressive during the opening weekend, compiling 66 points. Senior
Talya Williams paced LIU Post on the track, taking first place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:47.65. The senior also helped pace the 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter relays to top-three finishes. The group of sophomores
Nicolette Agostinacchio and
Alexandria Okon, freshman
Nataly Ramirez and Williams took second in the 4x400 in a time of 4:08.46, while the team of Agostinacchio, Okon, junior
Kaitie Schillaci and Williams crossed the line in third place during the 4x800 in 9:52.01.
In the sprinting events, Okon added a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, while Ramirez took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles. Freshman
Kathryn Ginty added a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash finals, finishing in 13.16 seconds.
Freshman
Alyssa Farrell had an outstanding outdoor debut in the field events, capturing first-place in the javelin throw with a distance of 38.90 meters. Farrell added a third-place finish in the hammer throw, notching a toss of 38.50 meters.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, April 7 at the Mark Young Invitational hosted by Yale University beginning at 11:00 a.m.
