NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The LIU Post track and field teams continued to prepare for next weekend's Metropolitan Championships at the Dr. Mark Young Invitational at Yale University April 7.
 
The Pioneers had several strong showings across the board. Senior Talya Williams once again led the women's side, taking first in the 1,500-meter run, outlasting Yale's Lauren Chapey by .44 seconds with a time of 4:46.09. The senior later helped lead the Pioneers to a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, anchoring the team of sophomores Alexandria Okon and Nicolette Agostinacchi and freshman Nataly Ramirez. Ramirez, Agostinacchio and freshmen sisters Kathryn Ginty and Jacqueline Ginty also was impressive in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing in 53.40 seconds for a second-place finish.
 
Okon added an outdoor personal-best time of 2:19.57 in the 800-meter run, good enough for fourth place. Freshman Kayra Theodore added a new personal-record in the triple jump, recording a distance of 10.37 meters. Classmate Alyssa Farrell led the Pioneers in the field events, earning second-place in the javelin throw after breaking the school record a week ago. Sophomore Kaitlin Klein added a fifth-place finish in the shot put, recording a toss of 11.69 meters.
 
On the men's side, graduate student Stefan Adams notched another first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.37 seconds after qualifying for the IC4A/ECAC meet a week ago. Seniors Ramel Joseph and Kasim Thomas along with freshmen Jahmel Johnson and Destyn Harding earned a third-place finish with a time of 44.02 seconds in the 4x100-meter dash.
 
Senior Lance Edwards earned a new personal-record in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 1:58.51, while freshman Jaelin Hood added a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 11.24 seconds.
 
In the field events, junior Evangelos Fradalakis paced the Pioneers with an eighth-place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 44.59 meters.
 
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, April 13 at the Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers University.
